Samsung has been rolling out One UI 8.5 Beta updates for select flagship devices. The Galaxy S26 was launched with a stable One UI 8.5 version, while the Galaxy S25 and Z Fold 7/Z Flip 7 have received a number of Beta updates.
Now, the South Korean tech giant is broadening the program yet again, with new leaks suggesting the Galaxy S23 could also join the One UI 8.5 Beta club.

Namely, the Galaxy S23 lineup could soon join the One UI 8.5 Beta program. The leaker has uncovered build versions for the devices on Samsung's internal servers.
BREAKING!
The first One UI 8.5 Beta build for the Galaxy S23 Series has been spotted on Samsung’s test server.
Reportedly, the build versions that could soon arrive on Galaxy S23 models are S918BXXU9ZZD1, S918BOXM9ZZD1, and S918BXXU9FZD1.
How do you feel about One UI 8.5 Beta coming to the S23?
The leaker hasn't shared any details about which users could be among the first to get the update. If Samsung sticks to its usual schedule, the Beta version could initially be rolled out to users in Korea, India, the U.K., and the US.

If Samsung rolls out One UI 8.5 Beta to Galaxy S23 users, will they get any of the Galaxy S26 features? That's highly unlikely — some of the One UI 8.5 features on the S26 series will most likely remain exclusive.
Specifically, the Galaxy S23 is unlikely to receive the on-device AI capabilities of the Galaxy S26, which are facilitated by the latest Samsung and Qualcomm processors.
Users could still receive theft protection and One UI customizations. Of course, we'll know more about the features that are actually coming to the Galaxy S23 series once the update starts rolling out.
Last week's announcement adds context
The Galaxy S23 lineup isn't the only one joining the One UI 8.5 Beta program. For context, Samsung announced it's expanding the software to various devices, including:
The announcement was published on the Samsung Newsroom on March 26, 2026, explaining the Beta program will be available in select markets: India, the U.K., Korea, and the US.
According to the press release, Samsung will roll out One UI 8.5 Beta to more devices in April, and the Galaxy S23 appears to be among the first devices on the April list.

No more Beta — it's time for a stable version
The One UI 8.5 Beta version started with the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip 7, as well as the Galaxy S25 series. So far, last year's Galaxy S flagships have received eight Beta updates.
To some, this may look like commitment to polishing the software, but I see it as a tedious process taking far longer than necessary. I won't lie — Samsung's commitment to bringing One UI 8.5 to older devices, including the S23, is admirable.
But since we already have a stable One UI 8.5 version with the Galaxy S26, why should Galaxy S25 users in particular be forced to install one Beta update after the other? Isn't it time for a stable version already?
