We expect Samsung to introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 8 sometime in the summer of 2026. As per tradition, the Flip is likely going to be accompanied by the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Expect a July or August event, judging by previous generations.

Currently, leaks are still silent on the potential Galaxy Z Flip 8 price. However, Samsung did raise prices for the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus, so there's a possibility that the company may do the same with the Flip 8.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see to be entirely certain.
However, Samsung equipped the Flip 7 with software improvements, and now we have the ProVisual Engine that optimizes scenes and Enhanced Nightography for low-light scenes.
Potentially, Samsung will refine these even further with the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Features like the Real-time Filters on the Flex Window and Dual Preview (where the subject you're taking a photo of can see themselves on the Flex Window) are also likely to stay with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.

So far, there are no leaks to indicate that Samsung is planning an upgrade in the camera department for the Galaxy Z Flip 8. It's possible that Samsung may use the same system again (which is pretty decent) and give the Z Flip 8 a 50 MP main camera and a 12 MP ultra-wide one.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 came with the same camera system as its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6. However, the Flip 6 had made a jump in the camera department by introducing a new 50 MP camera and a more natural color processing approach.

Currently, most leaks indicate there's no upgrade coming to the camera system of the Flip 8. Although the current camera system is pretty reliable, the lack of upgrades in that department, including in MP count, could be disappointing to some Samsung fans. Especially the selfie camera, if I may add.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 design is not expected to change too much. The Flip 7 became slightly thinner (13.7 mm when folded) than its predecessor, and rumor has it that the Flip 8 will build on that and come in an even thinner body.
Meanwhile, rumors indicate the tech giant has managed to make the Flip 8 incredibly light. Apparently, at least according to this one report, the flip phone may weigh in at just 150 grams. In comparison, the Z Flip 7 weighs 188 grams.
It's important to note that reputable tipster IceUniverse has thrown some doubt on this particular rumor. Ice maintains that the Flip 8 may weigh 180 grams, which is just a tiny bit lighter than its predecessor.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 brought a serious upgrade in the display department, with a bigger cover screen and inner display. The inner screen grew from 6.7 to 6.9 inches, and the cover screen morphed into an edge-to-edge 4.1-inch one.
This design allows for more things to be done from the cover screen, and it's a welcome improvement. However, this big change being introduced with the Flip 7 somewhat means we may not see a huge redesign for the Flip 8.
Apart from that, expect the same gorgeous Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz display refresh rate for a smooth feel, which is now a standard. Samsung also improved the FlexWindow's brightness with the Flip 7, so the Flip 8 may sport at least up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness, if not a bit more.

4,300mAh is still a small battery cell by today's standards: we have Chinese brands introducing way bigger batteries to their phones thanks to silicon-carbon tech. However, it appears that Samsung has not gone in this direction with the Galaxy Z Flip 8.
A new leak details the potential battery size of the upcoming clamshell. Unfortunately, it's apparently bad news for anyone hoping for another upgrade here.
The leak details there will be two batteries in the Flip 8, codenamed EB-BF776 and EB-BF777, with capacities of 1,150 mAh and 3,024 mAh, respectively. Combining these two gives us the typical capacity of 4,174. And yep, that's the same typical capacity that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 sports. So, we expect the advertised battery capacity of the phone to be 4,300 mAh.
The Flip 7 sports 25 W charging, and it's about time Samsung increases the speeds here. The Galaxy S26 Ultra did bring faster charging to the table, and the charging speeds of its smaller siblings also got upgraded.
Well, a new leak is now giving us some disappointing details about the Galaxy Z Flip 8's charging. Reportedly, Samsung may keep the same charging speeds for yet another year.
According to this leak, the Flip 8 will still have 25 W charging. This is basically the same speed as the Galaxy Z Flip 4, and since 2022, when the Flip 4 was introduced, this charging speed has not been upgraded.
Competitors like the Motorola Razr and Razr Plus from 2025 beat the Flip here, as these phones support 30 W and 45 W speeds, respectively.
Overall, judging by the majority of the leaks, the Flip 8 is shaping up to be another incremental upgrade.
Galaxy Z Flip 8 features and software
Samsung has changed its strategy when introducing new One UI versions. Previously, the Galaxy S were the phones bringing the new One UI, but now this schedule is changed to better align with Android updates.
Because of this change, the Galaxy S26 series got One UI 8.5, and the foldables, including the Flip 8, are expected to come with One UI 9 based on Android 17.
Samsung has not abandoned its desire to lean more into Galaxy AI, so you can safely expect a plethora of new generative AI-powered features for the clamshell foldable. The ones that the company introduced with the Flip 7 are likely to come back again (including Gemini Live on the cover screen), and we're likely going to see some new ones as well.
Leaks are yet to detail those, however.

With the Z Flip 7, Samsung used its own Exynos chip for the first time on a clamshell foldable. The tradition may continue, which may mean the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may come with Samsung's 2nm Exynos 2600 chip. The same processor powers some models (depending on the region) of the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus.

Most rumors are unanimous that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is going to sport the Exynos 2600 exclusively. This means that there may not be any variants of the foldable sporting Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip.
The Exynos 2600 is built on a 2nm process. It features a 1+3+6 core architecture and comes with one big C1-Ultra core clocked at 3.8 GHz, three C1-Pro cores at 3.25 GHz, and six efficiency cores (again C1-Pro, but clocked at 2.75 GHz).
Samsung's chip also features a different GPU (the Xclipse 960 graphics chip). Overall, in benchmarks, the Exynos 2600 performs close to the Snapdragon chip that's probably going to be found in the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but it appears that Qualcomm may be on top once again in terms of some aspects of performance.
Nevertheless, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is not entirely marketed as a power machine. The Exynos should be strong enough for the clamshell phone's audience, and the phone should still be able to handle all regular daily life tasks with ease, with no stutter or lag.

Should you wait for the Galaxy Z Flip 8?
