Galaxy Z TriFold release date
Samsung announced the Galaxy Z TriFold on December 1, 2025. Availability in South Korea started on December 12. The market release for the U.S. was January 30.

Curiously enough, it seems that, for the moment, Samsung is not sure if it's going to make a sequel to this phone. And, to the shock of potentially numerous Sammy fans, the TriFold has now been discontinued. Apparently, a Samsung spokesperson told Bloomberg that the Galaxy Z TriFold is going to be discontinued in the U.S. and in its home market.
This just about means that you will be able to buy it as long as stocks last. When stocks get sold out, there won't be any more TriFold models you will be able to buy new. Samsung reportedly said that this is done because the TriFold was not intended to be a part of Samsung's flagship lineup, but rather more of a technological showcase.

The Galaxy Z TriFold costs $2,899. It's only available in Crafted Black with 512 GB of storage. Curiously enough, it sold out quickly after its U.S. launch even without trade-in discounts.

Unfortunately, though, as we mentioned above, the phone is now officially discontinued. Despite the high interest by fans in the model (that happened despite the high price tag), Samsung has decided that it won't be selling this phone.

Samsung's foldables in the last few years have been getting camera upgrades, although initially, these phones didn't rock the latest and greatest in the camera department.
Samsung didn't hold back with the camera system for the Galaxy Z TriFold. In the camera department, the trifoldable phone/tablet is a serious contender, at least in terms of specs.

The phone's camera system should match the Galaxy Z Fold 7's performance. All in all, that definitely looks like a reliable and top-notch camera system. The only disadvantage that it seems to have from the Galaxy S25 Ultra is that it doesn't zoom in as much.
However, the phone definitely means serious business with those cameras.
Samsung didn't hold back with the camera system for the Galaxy Z TriFold. In the camera department, the trifoldable phone/tablet is a serious contender, at least in terms of specs.

The phone's camera system should match the Galaxy Z Fold 7's performance. All in all, that definitely looks like a reliable and top-notch camera system. The only disadvantage that it seems to have from the Galaxy S25 Ultra is that it doesn't zoom in as much.

Samsung is generous with the storage and RAM of the Galaxy Z TriFold. The phone comes with 16GB of RAM, plenty of serious multitasking (and it makes a lot of sense with the form factor), and buyers can choose between 512GB or 1TB of internal storage.

Galaxy Z TriFold design
The device features a multi-folding, inward design, which protects its main display. The inner display folds in two places, making it Samsung's first (and potentially the last) tri-folding phone.

Samsung has equipped the folding phone with a carefully calibrated mechanism, which, on top of it all, has an auto-alarm feature, in case you try to fold it wrong.
The Armor FlexHinge system, inherited from the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, is refined, so you get a smoother, stable fold with minimized panel gap.
In its folded state, the Galaxy Z TriFold measures 159.2 x 75.0 x 12.9 mm. When you unfold it, it grows to 159.2 x 214.1 x 3.9 mm. The central part of the display is 4.2 mm when unfolded, and the screen with the side button on it is 4.0 mm. Obviously, that's incredibly thin.
It's a bit heavy at 309g, but that shouldn't disturb you when you realize we're talking here about a... well, foldable tablet.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is rated at IP48, so my advice would be to be careful with it around water or when on the beach.

The tri-foldable display is also an attraction in itself. We have a huge 10-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED display. The panel sports a 2160 x 1584 px, 269 ppi resolution. In terms of brightness, you get up to 1,600 nits.
Of course, the phone is equipped with a fast refresh rate, going from 1 all the way to 120 Hz, a standard for premium phones nowadays. The fast refresh rate would allow for smooth animations and a fluid feel when you interact with the display.
The Galaxy Z TriFold also has a cover screen. The outer display is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with 2520 x 1080, 422 ppi resolution, and a 21:9 ratio. It can go all the way up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness. Of course, the 120 Hz display refresh rate is available on the cover screen as well.

The Galaxy Z TriFold comes with One UI 8, which is Samsung's skin on top of Android 16 out of the box. Of course, this form factor is ideal for multitasking, and Samsung has thought of it.
You can have three different portrait-size apps side-by-side, you can resize apps in multi-window, or you can hold the phone in a vertical orientation when reviewing documents. There's a taskbar at the bottom right of the display that resurfaces recently used apps for your convenience.
Apps like My Files and Samsung Health have been optimized for the large screen.
The Galaxy Z TriFold is also the first phone to have standalone Samsung DeX capabilities. Galaxy AI is also here, with features such as Photo Assist (Generative Edit and Sketch to Image), Browsing Assist, and others. Gemini Live is also there with multimodal AI for your assistance.
