New BlackBerry model "Krypton" figures to be an extension of the DTEK line

All of the signs are pointing to at least one new BlackBerry handset being launched before 2017 comes to an end. A TCL manufactured phone with the model number BBD100-1 recently received its Bluetooth certification; this morning we told you that TCL's Global GM François Mahieu revealed that a BlackBerry model due out in October will feature an IP67 certification rating. That means that the device will be able to withstand a submersion to as deep as 3.3 feet for as long as 30 minutes. This would be the first BlackBerry model to offer a water resistant build.

With TCL involved, some are expecting the next 'Berry to be an extension of the all-touch DTEK line, which currently carries the mid-range DTEK50 and the high-end DTEK60. Rumored specs include a Snapdragon 625 or 626 chipset to be found under the hood, with 4GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery inside. The screen will carry a resolution of 1080 x 1920 (FHD), and the fingerprint scanner will be embedded in the home button.

The phone, which is rumored to be the model code named "Krypton," is said to come with a feature called Private Mode. Found on some of TCL's Alcatel handsets, this allows the phone's owner to create two separate sign-in accounts. One will open all of the unit's applications to anyone, and the other prevents apps containing photos and sensitive documents from opening.

The Bluetooth certification taking place on August 11th fits in with the release of a new handset in October, so if you're a fan of the DTEK line, keep your eyes peeled for some more news and rumors about the next all-touch 'Berry.
