Samsung I7110 Preview

The Samsung I7110 is yet another smartphone that promises to offer the users some decent multimedia capabilities. Specs-wise it is similar to the Samsung INNOV8; it features GPS, Wi-Fi and Symbian S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 operating system. In contrast, it isn’t a slider, lacks an abundant amount of built-in memory, and the camera utilizes the more modest 5-megapixels.
The appearance of the I7110 is very similar to the Soulb and has a lot of metal elements, including the keypad. The body of the phone isn’t exactly small, but at least is relatively thin at 12.9 mm.

You can compare the Samsung I7110 with many other phones using our Size Visualization Tool.
On the left side of the I7110 you’ll find the volume rocker with the charger/headphones port below it, hidden under a sliding protective cover. On the opposite side is the microSD slot, the camera shutter and the button for quick access to the FM transmitter. The back houses the 5-megapixel camera and the loudspeaker.
Samsung I7110 360 Degrees View:
Just like the G810 and the INNOV8, the I7110 also runs Symbian S60, made popular by the countless Nokia smartphones. Here, we have the OS’s 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, seen as well in the top Finnish model, the N96. Samsung has added its own graphic themes, so you can change the style of the interface to be similar to its other models. Naturally, the changes are only skin deep and at its core it remains the typical S60 smartphone, which is not a bad thing at all.
As we’ve found in previous S60 reviews we have an excellent phonebook with multiple fields, and the I7110 adds a large picture on an incoming call. Message-wise there are more than enough extras and a very good organizer as well. For quite some time the web browser has been one of the best, although it is a few steps behind the leaders (Safari and Opera Mobile) in user-friendliness, it is still very pleasant, even for daily use.
As a whole the I7110 performs well, but we couldn’t resist checking out how the camera does. Its interface is far from colorful, but on the other hand offers a lot of options. Everything that is present in the INNOV8 is also present here, including the Smile and Blink Detection, so to make sure that there aren’t any sleeping people in your shots.
