Samsung seems ready to stop fighting the magnet trend and finally give the people what they want. A new leak suggests the upcoming Galaxy S26 era will finally bring a first-party magnetic battery pack to the table, though it looks a little different than you might expect.
The Galaxy S26 is getting a magnetic friend
We have been waiting for Samsung to properly adopt Qi2 for a while now, and it looks like it is finally happening. According to a listing that just popped up in the Wireless Power Consortium database, Samsung has a "Magnet Wireless Battery Pack" in the works.
Why this specific design matters

The interesting part here isn't just the magnets; it is the shape of the battery itself. If you look closely at the leak, the battery pack isn't a perfect rectangle. It has an extended lip or cutout design.
Why? Because Samsung phones are a bit of a mess when it comes to camera placement. The lenses sit notoriously close to the wireless charging coil, so if you try to slap a standard battery pack onto a current Galaxy phone with a magnetic ring case, it often hits the bottom camera lens. This breaks the magnetic seal and stops the charging.
Samsung’s new pack is designed specifically to dodge those cameras. It’s a necessary move to make Qi2 work on their devices without a total redesign of the phone's internals.
Is Qi2 magnetic power charging important to you in a phone?
Yes, this is long overdue for fans of magnetic accessories.

Not really. I’d rather use faster wired charging.

It is a step in the right direction
Frankly, I am just glad Samsung is finally doing this. It feels a couple of years late, but better late than never. The 15W speed is decent for a portable pack, even if it won't hit the rumored 25W wired-equivalent speeds the S26 Ultra might support on a wall charger.
