After raising the price on both the enV Touch and the enV3, as we earlier reported, Verizon has lowered the price of the Samsung Omnia to $49. The new price requires the customary 2 year contract and is the lowest price that Big Red has posted for this smartphone. Initially launched by the carrier just a few weeks after the high profile BlackBerry Storm, the handset came to the U.S. with high expectations after scoring very good reviews overseas.

The device is equipped with a 5MP camera, Opera Mobile browser, Wi-Fi, 8GB of internal memory and a 3.2 inch screen. With the new price cut, the Omnia is offering a lot of features for a $49 model. Verizon customers now have an interesting choice to make, spend $49 for the Omnia or the Storm, or wait for the sequel model for each phone.
