Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) vs Galaxy A5 (2017)

Samsung officially unveiled its new Galaxy A series smartphones for 2017, the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, and Galaxy A7. All three will be available in Russia beginning early January and will be expanded to global markets in the coming weeks.

As far as pricing goes, Samsung hasn't announced anything related to the cost of these smartphones, but previous reports claim the Galaxy A5 (2017) will be available for $378, while the Galaxy A7 (2017) should hit the shelves for $424.

We can safely assume that the Galaxy A3 (2017) will be much cheaper than the other two phones. Furthermore, it's worth noting that each of these new smartphones will be available in four color options: Black Sky, Gold Sand, Blue Mist and Peach Cloud.

Moving on to actual specs, the less-featured of the three, the Galaxy A3 (2017) sports a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display with HD (720p resolution, along with fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port.

Hardware-wise, the Galaxy A3 (2017) comes equipped with a 1.6GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable memory (up to 256GB). The smartphone is powered by a 2,350 mAh battery and packs a 13-megapixel rear camera, as well as a secondary 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Next in line, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) features a larger 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. There's also a 16-megapixel camera on the back, along with a no less impressive 16-megapixel camera in the front, both featuring f/1.9 aperture.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) has 1.9GHz octa-core processor at its heart, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage (expandable up to 256GB). It's also powered by a larger 3,000 mAh battery, and, just like the Galaxy A3 (2017) features fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) is the most powerful of the three, hence the higher price. The phone boasts a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD (1080p) resolution and features the same camera configuration as the Galaxy A5 (16-megapixel rear + 16-megapixel front camera).

It's got a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB expandable storage (up to 256GB), but a larger 3,600 mAh battery. A fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port are included as well.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) benefit from fast charging technology, and all three features IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. They come with premium metal frame and 3D glass back.

Sadly, the Galaxy A (2017) series phones ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system onboard. Hopefully, Samsung will deliver Android Nougat updates to all three handsets in the future.
