HiSense H910 hands-on: Absolutely selfilicious

From washing machines and TVs, through refrigerators and microwave ovens, down to smartphones – that's HiSense for you. Based out of China, with fairly limited mobile arm operations in the West, HiSense may or may not register as a known name with you, but the reps at the company's booth at MWC 2015 told us that the company will be bringing its high mid-range H910 to Europe at some point in Q2.

In terms of design, the HiSense H910 is nothing ground-breaking, though we've seen far worse. The front of the phone is a bit generic-looking, but at least HiSense has made use of a 7.18 mm-thin metal frame, and seemingly high-quality matte plastic for the rear – a combination that gives it a more premium feel in the hand.

As for the hardware HiSense has packed within the H910, we're looking at a phablet-worthy, 5.5-inch panel with 1080 x 1920 resolution, one of Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 615 processors, 2GB of RAM, and 16 gigs of expandable storage. At the back, we're treated to a familiar sight – a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor with f/2.2 lens and a dual LED flash. Impressively, HiSense has also added optical stabilization gizmo on top, so video footage and low light shots ought to look better than comparable implementations without one. Just as importantly, HiSense hasn't skimmed on the front-facing selfie unit – we've got an 8-megapixel cam with 84-degree, wide-angled lens, capable of some truly impressive shots (sample at the end of gallery below). Finally, we're looking at 2,700 mAh juicer and Android 4.4.4 KitKat with a proprietary skin.

Finally, HiSense told us to expect the H910 to arrive in Europe with a €349 price tag, though we were also given to understand that the device will likely go on sale pretty much immediately and will probably be available for even less than that.
