Deal: Sony Xperia XZ new and unlocked with $70 discount

The Black Sony Xperia XZ is selling for $629.99 on Amazon

Earlier today, we told you about a slew of sweet savings on Sony's Xperia range over at Amazon. If you're looking for the cutting-edge, latest and greatest experience, though, there are also price cuts on the Xperia XZ. Though it's not part of Amazon's deals on the likes of the Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance, you can still save yourself a pretty penny on the flagship XZ in certain colors.

The Platinum configuration is still at the full $699.99 original retail price, while the Forest Blue option is not much better at $686.86. The Black version, however, is down to $629.99 -- a 10 percent saving that may just make the Xperia XZ a more palatable option.

As a reminder, the device includes Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3 GB RAM and a 5.2-inch, 1080 x 1920 display. There's also a 23-megapixel main camera with 4K video recording among other treats, and a 13-megapixel front camera with a wide-angle lens for those all-important group selfies.

At $700, the Xperia XZ is not a great buy, particularly when you can snag better phones like the iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10 for less money. At just under $630, it doesn't seem such a big ask. Given that it's already $70 cheaper after just over two weeks on the market, though, you may wish to wait for further possible discounts as the holiday season approaches.
