Google Pixel 2/XL camera samples

The 2016 Pixel crop had one of the most amazing cameras that the smartphone industry could offer at the time, and their successors won't fall far from that shutterbug tree, it seems. While the specs don't include any bragging with the "widest aperture," "largest pixels," or even a second camera to accompany the first, as is all the rage this season, Google's computational photography prowess strikes again.

Google fuses numerous shots instantaneously to create the widest dynamic range possible from this sensor and lens, and uses both optical and electronic stabilization in video footage - something that's allegedly never been done before.

To demonstrate what the new camera is capable of, Google gave the phones to one of its photogs, and you can see the resulting untouched pictures samples in the slideshow below. Meanwhile, it bragged that DxOMark has given the phones the highest ranking it has ever given, though we've noticed that lately every new phone from a major brand is being praised there and given very high marks, so we'll wait to get our hands on a Pixel or 2, and judge it by its real-life performance.
